Default rear main seal leak

Well after this winter all my minor oil leaks are now major so a friend and I have time today we are pulling the trans to fix the rear main and transfer case leaks

I have output seals for case and a trans kit

I need to order the rear main seal what else while I am apart? Looks like the shifter is leaking on the trans guessing o ring there

Trans out

Guess I will power wash it and start replacing seals on the transfer case

Ordered rear main and trans pump seals

Unfortunately we broke the detention tube where it enters the trans, is this fixable?
Is the cable hard to change in trans? I have done some easy and some pita before

Pulling this trans in stone driveway sucks *** probly real fun reinstall ugh

OK so power washed this mess some, checked out detent, not broke like I thought just unplugged?

Seals are in, Atlantic British for pump seal and rear main, ordered yesterday 4:30 pm had em today ups 1:30 pm standard delivery thats why I usually buy there unless someone is waaay cheaper

Drilled a drain hole in the cdl shift mount so water will not sit in that cup and rust up the shifter again

Btw suggestions on what to seal on the transfer case while out? Can't really tell where the leak is or just unbolt and reseal everything?

Can the trans shifter seal be replaced without trans disasembly?

Need some guidance here, anyone here done the rear main on the v8?

I have the new seal and assumed it was like GM engine one piece , pop out old instal new, read the rave they want you to drop oil pan, remove rear bearing cap and cross shaped seals then install rear main and reassemble?

Is all that necessary ?

Do you replace the cross seals?

I think I read a comment by John Robison just the other day on one of these boards. He warned against doing the rear main seal unless it was absolutely necessary. He also said if you do the seal you'll wind up doing the bearings as well. I'll try to find the comment.

I looked on Dweb. He's been posting there lately. I couldn't find the thread. I also can't imagine why you'd need to go further into the engine than just the rear seal but the comment stuck in my mind. If I come across it again I'll post up.
