rear main seal leak

Paul I think John would be speaking of the crucifix seals since the bearing cap would be removed to replace those. I don't think any harm is done with the crank stub seal. I was going to mention it too but life has me busy and Tom did the right thing leaving the crucifix's alone.

Jafir, I actually thought that Dweb thread was the one where John made the comment. I know it was on a fairly recent thread.

Well it did not appear to be leaking from the bearing cap, just the crank , my guess is if you remove that cap to do seals when you reinstall and torque it with new seals/sealant it may be slightly off compared to previous causing bearing to tight or loose so very slight you would not notice it and leading to failure

When I get a minute I will read the threads above thanks for the info guys
