Rear side window replacement

Rear side window replacement
I've lurked on these LR forums for a few years now and thought I'd try to give back. Today the wife and I replaced the rear side window gaskets, I took some pics because I couldn't find any on the subject anywhere online. Here is my attempt to help the next guy try and do it him or her self.
1) Took a razor knife and cut the seal from the inside, once the seal is cut it pretty much just tore nice and clean, I work with glass daily so I had a nice suction cup to hold the window.
2) The window pops right out pretty easily at this point. I cleaned the glass and the metal where the seal sets in the body.
3) Lube, Lube, Lube. I used a silicone base lube, it worked well for me (not sure if it's the best to use). Getting the seal to sit correctly on the glass was tricky at first but once you get it to fit the glass it slides right in the groove
4) Once the glass is in the new seal I placed some weed wacker spline in the correct channel to help the rubber set on the window frame. Make sure to over lap the spline so the seal can fully set. I ran the spline from top to bottom on the gasket, over lapping on the bottom.
5) When starting to pull the spline make sure your helper in putting pressure on the window in the same area you are pulling the spline in. As you work the spline around the gasket the corners can be a little stubborn. It helped to have the helper push the opposite way your pulling the spline (pushing towards the rear when pulling spline on the front edge of the gasket and vice versa). The final corner was kind of tough, I had to use a sawing action with a good amount of lube to gt the gasket to set fully. I also used a plastic scraper to get the outside and inside to set completely.
Close up of one of the new clean corners. Hope this helps someone..
