Rear view mirror replacement?
That's what I thought. But I wondered if one would fit from a discovery 2? I've found a replacement on eBay for $70 which I am considering. Either that or asking a friend back in Britain if they can find one at a junk yard. Not too many junk land rovers in my neck of the woods :-/
Any DI auto dim mirror you find is going to be in this same shape, they are all old.
However if you have a friend who lives in the UK he can get you a non auto dim DI mirror and it should mount right up no prob.
If you want a "fancy" mirror do like I did, cruise Craig's List and look for a aftermarket mirror with compass and temp and auto dim.
I got mine for $100 ($350 mirror) and then I went to the factory and had it installed.

Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea.
I never knew it either, then I saw the dash of a RRC where the mirror had leaked and it was pretty bad.
No holes in the dash but the dash was melted where the fluid had hit it.
I suppose you could remove the mirror, drill a small hole and drain the fluid out and then put it back.
My D1 mirror had the messed up fluid too.
Paid Roverbones for a D1, but turns out he was out of stock. He had a D2 compass mirror but could not confirm fit.
Emailed Will Tillery. Said he has D2 compass mirrors only but they would work.
Since I had already paid Lincoln, I called him back and had him send out the D2 one.
Crimped the wires up and installed. Compass and Homelink work like a charm.
Ill add 2 tidbits to this story...
- My D1 (98) had an auto-dim mirror and hence had the 3 power wires for the rearview. I dont know if all editions of the D1 had auto-dimming. If they dont, then those will obviously not be able to make use of the compass and homelink of a D2.
- Lincoln initially sent me an auto-dim rearview with a slider on it. It seemed to mount up ok, but I soon realized that its range of motion didnt didnt allow for proper adjustment. The angles of movement wouldnt let someone under 6'2" see out the back. I assume it was a P38 RR mirror, but not sure.

Get a piece of mirror cut at a glass shop and they can cut it to fit over old mirror and recommend a way to "stick" it over the old one. I know several others that went this route and it worked well keeping all the mirror controls intact except auto dim of course.
