Default Removing Rear Hydraulic Step

My rear hydraulic step is rusted out on the bottom, and lately doesn't want to retract fully. Despite my daughter's wishes, I'm thinking of just getting rid of it. Is removal as straightforward as it appears. Remove the one bolt on which it pivots?

Thanks.

2x on the grinder....you may not get that bolt out. My daughters put up such a fuss I bought a slightly used step off of ebay and replaced the whole works.

Come to think about it, I think I used two different words: reciprocating saw.

It's easier to use on the side of the bolt that's next to the gas tank. You defintely don't want to grind a hole in that!
