Default Removing shifter ****

I'm trying to remove the center console to get to the shiftlock solenoid but I'm stuck at the shifter know. How do I remove the drive selector **** on an automatic 98 Discovery? I have a copy of the workshop manual but it only describes a manual transmission disassembly. I suspect I just pull it up but it has that release button on the side of the shifter and I don't know what that's connected to. Do I need to be in drive or neutral before I can pull it out?

Thanks

Pry the wood insert up. Then you'll see how to remove it.

I notice your scroll is AWOL on your selector, Atlantic British has em.

Thanks, that did it. I'll replace the scroll after I've fixed the other issues. Its a new (for me) truck that I just bought to work on.
