Replacement Mounts
I need to order mounts since no local parts house carries them in stock. 1997 Discovery I LSE... Automatic. Zip code 29108.
I am looking to replace the engine mounts and transmission mounts. Looking through the Rave manual I count two on the transmission and four under the hood.
My question is two part:
1) Are my counts above correct?
2) Several suppliers list the same mount for the transmission and engine, while others list the same mount for the engine and the steering damper with no mention of the transmission:
Mount - Transmission & Engine | Range Rover & Land Rover transmission Parts
And
97 1997 Land Rover Discovery Engine Mount - Engine Mechanical - AMR - PartsGeek

Each? or for all 4? 2.5 probably is about right for all four.
Yes. For all four.. The quote was $99 for the motor and $150 for transmission.
Sounds like they are on the up and up and will be getting my business.

To follow up,
I found a local mechanic struggling to get work. He cut the time to 2 hours and installed the mounts on the transmission and engine. As per other threads on here, the driver side transmission and engine mounts were degraded severely while the passenger side were less degraded.
The vehicle has a much better feeling now. While working on it he said he found two areas of concern. The engine is leaking oil in the bottom end and the transmission cooling line is leaking. Both of these aren't news, but they are leaking slowly at a few drops here and there. Hopefully I can fix those issues in early 2012 or ignore them and hope for the best.

Oil pan gasket replacement is fairly simple (with an extra helping of patience) and inexpensive. I did my own.
My transmission lines also leaked when I first got my truck. I had them replaced at a shop. It was pricey, but I am glad I did it. Your leaks may not get worse for a while, but you should keep an eye on them regularly.
There is at least one discussion on the forum here about doing the cooler lines on a budget.
