Default The Rover Gods Are Testing ME

Pulled out of the driveway this morning, went down the hill around the curve and about halfway up the next hill rolling 45 with foot off the gas, it suddenly died.

I eased it into N, coasted over a little curb into a long parking lot for a little jewelry store, beauty salon, tanning salon, flower shop that used to be a big house and there it sits.

Battery reads 12.4, Fuel pump primes with key on, engine turns over, but it sounds like no spark. Decidedto walk home and let it sit a bit and go back soon.

Hoping it at least starts so I can drive it home, hate to get it flatbedded that short a distance.

Are you sure there is fuel? Just because the pump makes a noise doesnt mean there is always fuel at the injectors

I would check there first to be certain, and because it is easy and then check for spark. If no spark it is most likely CKPS. If there is no fuel it is probably intertia switch or fuel pump...

Good luck!

Have you tried eating a donut? Always helps me with repairs and troubleshooting...

You should have gone to the beauty salon and got your hair done while you let it sit, that and a tan and you'd have a whole new outlook. Especially if you also treated yourself to some new earrings and a nice bouquet of flowers.
Your Rover died there for a reason. You need to listen when its talking to you.

The walk home gave me time to reflect upon it.

I went back and did a few quick checks. Put a old spark plug in the no. 1 wire, laid the spark plug on the mtor and observed spark, so that was good sign.

There is fuel at the schrader valve. Another good sign.

Put voltmeter across battery and saw it drop to 10 volts while son cranked engine. Bad Sign.

Ended up pulling the battery out and bringing it home. Put on one of those small chargers, it's drawing 10 amps.

I guess the voltage regulator in the alternator finally bit the dust.

I am hoping to take back the charged battery and be able to start it and make it the 3 blocks back home.

With the temp hitting 80 today and the sun out, I opted to pass on the tanning salon, but I could grab some flowers for the wifey. She's cooking a bunch of goodies for our grandson's upcoming First Communion this coming weekend.

I substituted a meatball and a hunk of baked ham. Getting a cold brew to chase it down with next.

I had to lay off the donuts. I was getting fat and loosing my boyish good looks.
