The Rover Gods Are Testing ME
I just called the local recycler. They have a 98D1 they just inducted. They are pulling the alternator for me now.
Even if mine is good, I want a spare to have on hand.
SUN IS SHINING, THINGS ARE LOOKING BETTER!
But the Rum Supply has seriously dimished!

Chris-Bob,
I do enjoy an occasional doughnut, but if I depended on them every time I ran into an issue, I would have to go on The Biggest Loser Ranch as a full-time member.
I am seriously thinking about starting a big fire in smoker grill and throwing some good meat on.

GUYS,
Wanted to thank everyone for their help and encouragement. MEANDEROVER is home once again.
While trying to start with recharged battery, I went back thru, verified spark with a spare plug ala Savannah's technique, laying it on top of motor and watching to verify Spark.
Sprayed some starting fluid in plenum, fired right up ran 3 sdeconds went dead. Very little fuel at the test port.
Removed fuel filter, still no flow. Pulled the fuel pump from the cell and lo and behold the little internal supply hose had popped off the top plate nipple. I had pulled the hoses off externally and could see fumes being pumped out but no liquid.
Reattached the little hose, put it all back together, and it fired right up.
Still plan to pick up that salvaged alternator tomorrow and see if that helps the tach issue.
Anyone need anything off a 98DI? I can inquire tomorrow if needed and you let me know tonight.
I especially want to thank our newest member G. Reeves. He is a wealth of knowledge and a fine fellow as well.

We all know that the world's best rum comes from that region!
I am currently sipping on a bottle of Cruzan Aged Ruym from St. Croix.
I like the dark ones like Bacardi Black, but I am sure there is a lot finer stuff locally for you. A big jug of some authentic Island Rum would be like a Blessing From The Rover Gods after this recent Test Of Fire!
Need anything for the DII from the salvage yard?
