IMHO your lock cylinder/switch is showing wear, and problem will come back. Please don't put WD 40 in it, it will solvent gunk, then spread it around, and allow it to dry in all of the tiny parts of the lock cylinder. Graphite is much better. If you want home made graphite, scrape the lead in a pencil into a powder and coat the key with it and insert in lock several times.

Yes, just apply graphite to your key and insert it into the lock and turn it, then remove the key. Repeat this process several times adding graphite once again after a few times. Do this to all of your locks. It will help immensely.

ok. I bought a duralast battery (800 cranking amps) from auto zone. I realize this isn't the best battery but I needed to know if my old battery was the reason behind all this (it wasn't). I have a guy telling me that interstate batteries are the best and that is whats MUST be in there. is this true? does it really matter?
