Default Rpm vs speed

Hey all I've been trying to get better mileage out of my d1 disco. I've done fuel filter, plugs, wires, air filter, oil change ,pcv cleaning , sea foam, tire pressure , changing up octane ratings and I still average 13mpg I drive 15 miles to work mostly highway which I do 57mph. I was thinking my d2 got better mileage and I use to do 70mph in that. So my question is I'm turning about 2100-2200 at 55 mph with stock size tires. Is this normal? If so do you have any other suggestions or tricks I can try as factory mpg stated 14/17. Thanks in advance

Yes. Run Amsoil synthetic in the transfer case and diffs. Expensive but it might get you another mpg. I'm getting 17 mpg with 200k. I'm using Dunlop highway tires aired up to 32 psi on all four corners which helps too. Check Engine light on?

Not sure how new they are but I replaced my cats with new ones only thing I thought was weird was that the cats are much smaller than stock ones they seem fine but t I thought it t was odd that they are that much smaller than stock

Have a model/brand on the cats? Shouldn't be a factor unless they're smaller inlet/outlet. Sounds like you have a decent truck that's been cared for. That reminds me, I don't have cats, no inspections required here, lopped them off. I also push the motor hard, never let it lug so it stays blown out. I noticed on my first top tear down a long time ago that the pistons acquire allot of carbon on top so I blow it out. I own a 94 Saturn that when I peeled the head off it it had zero carbon on piston crowns, nearly the same mileage. Not a big fan of Rover motors in stock form.
