Default Scraping sound on front right wheel

I get it mostly on left turns and it sounds like a metal on metal scrape. All brake components were recently replaced but I think the brake light has reappeared. No noticeable performance issue.

Anyone care to guess or lead me to check something?

Thanks.

Brake mud shield? Usually the front CVs make a click click. Wheel bearings? Brake pads loose or caliper sticking?

You " think " brake light is on? Maybe? That might "throw some light" on the subject....

maybe bearings.

First, tear the brakes down and verify if they are the problem, other wise it is wheel bearing and or you have fried your cv joint. When did you last inspect/clean and or replace all 4 of your wheel bearings?

My former 98 Disco had a simular sound coming from the front passenger side wheel - turned out one of the caliper mounting bolts pooped out and whenever I put the truck in reverse one end of the caliper would slid out and scrap against the rim, creating a loud metal to metal scraping noise. Bolts are cheap but check everything else to as advised above. Good luck.

All good info, thanks. I'm on it, Mike. Hoping not the cv joint but let's see.

Sit on your brush guard and have someone drive around the block while you look down at your wheels. That's how real men diagnose problems.

Ha ha. Touche.

I'd have to bungee myself to the AC Condensor as I have no brush guard or grill at the moment. Real men don't need these frilly things.

Consider yourself lucky if it is wheel bearings on the D1 and not the hubs on SWMBO's D2.....

Why don't I feel too lucky? I'm sure I'll be doing those too at one point.

My problem is that there could be up to ten days between diagnostic and sourcing the parts and I need the truck. While the mechanic doesn't think it's the brakes, the combination of the light being on now and the type of drag it's creating on left hand turns, I'm leaning towards that direction. Obviously this is going to require some time and effort so I'll have to find some other weekend. I'll let you know.

These aren't going to be Autozone parts I fear.
