Default Seat Differences?

i seem to recall reading that the 94/95 seats are different than the 96+, but i think that these were differences were only due to the way the seats mount to the truck.

im mainly interested in confirming whether all 96+ seat bottoms (that thing that always tears and makes the seat sag) are the same.

thanks

I think they are the same from what I saw in the salvage yard. I hunted and found some, had to use two passenger, see https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...highlight=seat

D2 will not swap with D1 without a mountain of work.

There is a 97 in the one of our pull-a-part yards that has very nice seats. Too bad they will not work with my 94. They have been there a while and I am very surprised that they have been there as long as they have.

Has anyone looked into getting them reupholstered instead?

I also know of two companies that sell retrim kits to DIY.

The RAVE tells you how to disassemble the seats and I have seen on-line how to's on repairing the internal heaters as well. The leads tend to fracture and go open circuit, They can be resoldered or the elements replaced as well. You can remove the outer covers and replace them or a few of the waterproof covers on the aftermarket are pretty decent as a seat cover-up.

i was just curious whether id run into any differences between the support piece underneath the cushion on earlier seats versus the later ones.

but its sounding like 96 and up should all be the same...

I have seats from a 96 in our 98 and they were identical in structure. I looked at some 94-95 as well and didnt see much difference but then again I didnt pull them out of the vehicle so I cant confirm one way or the other if they are the same as the 96+. I would imagine the only difference being in the bracketry but its hard to say.

The two that I have looked into are Roadwire Leather and Exmoor Trim. I have used the Roadwire products on several projects and it is OE fit and finish. I have talked to them about the Disco seats and they have the early and later style patterns available for the D1. I hate the perforated leather as Rover used and if I go back leather, I will do something that looks original but without the perforation. I am actually leaning toward the Exmoor kit for the front and rear seats as I like the vinyl with rover cloth option and think the 2-tone option will look great in my Disco.
