Default Several questions about my Discovery I

Still learning the site, so if I'm asking questions that are in the search, I couldn't find them.

1) My check engin light came on yellow after I forgot to put my gas cap back on last week. I put the cap back on, but it wont go back off. I had it checked at the local auto parts store & it came up with a P1496 which they said was the gas cap (makes sense since I left it off) but how do I get the code cleared?

2) I just got in my new seat switches, & they flop back out to the console. I got brand new plates, switches & buttons for my discovery from Miami British. The cut outs in the console are not damaged, but the switches appear to be about 3/8" too small for the holes. Was there at one time clips, a backing plate or trim piece that goes behind the switch plat making them fit the hole?? I did notice there's (2) cutouts in the bottom of the plate but nothing to hook them to.

3) I also got a new hand brake boot. There's an indent in the handle, but nothing came in the landrover package to attach it to the handle. What's the trick of the trade?

Help!!

Code scanner should reset the light, some stores are not allowed to, some stores rent/loan the code scanners.

Switches should engage by tabs on the switch, so maybe a supply error. Compare size of old switch.

There are two plates for the window switches, a backer plate that holds them with the clips that are supposed to be on the top and bottom of the switches and a pretty woodgrain or plain black facia plate to look purty.

Okay, time for an update... The Switch from Miami Rovers were used & damaged (Missing 3 of the 4 clips) Got a new plate from the local Land Rover dealer for the same price as Miami Rover wanted for a new one. Fixed! The Check engin light went off by it self (won't forget to put the gas cap on again). Fixed!! Dug through the tool box & found a zip tie to install the hand brake boot. Fixed!!! Now I have another question... Where in the heck is the AC evaporator drain? Looked all over the engin bay & cant find it. Have water running onto the passanger's side carpet when I use the AC. Figured it would be somewhere on the passanger's firewall, but cant find it.

Mark Hopkins - Water Ingress

Save the above document. It has tons of info on documented leaks on the Discovery.

I do not think there is a a/c condenser drain. See the info above.

It is usually a windshield gasket leak which the dealership merely reseals with black rtv if they "fix" it. Problem is the giant sponge under your carpet stays saturated and the floor pan rusts thru.

Also go to the top of the page and click on TSB and Recall tab and you will see tons of info that is helpful to a nwbie.

I will keep that in mind, but it only happens when the AC is on. Coming out where the consloe and the carpet meet right at the dash. If I turn the AC off, it drips for a bit & then stops till I turn the AC on again. Not too familiar with the Land Rover yet, but I know all of my American made cars have a pan of sorts with a drain that empties the water outside of the vehicle when the AC is in use.
