Default Short progress thread of my 96 D1

When I first got it, it was in need of some R&R.
First major thing I did was rear brakes and rear Bilsteins to match the front.

Calipers are the same color as the wheels one of my BMWs. That was an interesting experience. Next thing I did was bend the drag link offroading:

Then while replacing it, realized the previous owner had the put the tie rod on the steering box upside down!

Then went to get it inspected and was told my swivel ball was sloppy. Bought a used one and put it in:

Another fun task! Got it all back together with a new caliper, pads and Brembo rotor with out any major problems but I still have a small amount of play
The stuff that was in there was a bad smelling mix of mud, water, dirt and grease. The gear oil looks absolutely vile. That is my next step is changing the diff oil, I have some Royal Purple to throw in there.

Here is how she currently sits:

Next: Bilstein steering stabilizer, mount brush guard, passenger side front brakes and fixing whatever I break.

I will update this thread periodically of my progress.
Also, while coming home from class I saw a D1 SE, maybe SE7, sitting in some dudes yard with no plates. Gonna ask about it next week but I have to sell one of my 3 BMWs to make room though.
Thanks for reading!

The Ball joint (tie rod end) goes in the bottom of the pitman arm, as shown in the first pic...

That's odd, I couldn't get new one to go in that way. I matched it up perfectly to the old one and there were no difference. I put it in through the top and it slid right down and seated perfectly.

Make sure there isn't anything to interfere going from one stop to another...

How about a freshly powder-coated front bumper for $100 shipped? Looks like you could use one!
