Default Should I trade for a 5 speed Rover?

The lady across the street has a 1998 Disco 1. Same milage as mine and has a bunch of new stuff like water pump, fuel pump, starter and some other doo dads. Also has semi-new bf goodrich AT. The bad is that the interior looks bad compared to mine. No radio and speakers are all shot. Sun roofs don't work (mine has 1 working one) and the rear windows don't work (no biggie probably the ECU which is how I fixed mine plus the window rollers). The electric seats don't work and I can't scoot the chair back. So she wants an automatic, which mine is. And it's in pretty good shape now, only problem is the steering is loose which I was going to tackle. But now she offered a trade plus $1000 on top! Should I do it!?! Did I mention the CDL shifts properly in all 4 slots?!

Yes. If can't electrically fix seat motors pull the drive cable out of the motor, chuck in small drill, and move to a comfort position for you and leave it. Whole seats $27 at junk yard, buy a ripped up seat and harvest the motors, right angle drives, etc. Passenger seat can fit where driver seat is, if you can't find a decent driver seat.

$1000 can buy a lot of parts, ultra gauge, radio (how about that junkyard), and plenty of chili dogs.

the 5spd disco isnt sporty to say the least... definitely a truck transmission hah but id say do it, as long as hers isnt a total pile... though it does sound like somewhat of a downgrade from yours.

5 spd is awesome. but can be very daunting on long days of wheeling in rocks. you're leg will be killing you from messing about on the clutch. i had one briefly and the get up and go from a stop is great. you can feel the power hit the wheels. i say go for it, if you're up for a little project.

It pulls from a stop and leaves the little rice burner punks a look on their face that is priceless. As for power, you definitely feel it better than an auto. I love it and would never want an auto.

You need to drive it and see how it does. And for longer than around the block.
