Try to unplug your MAF & see if it idles. I just brought mine home from the shop with the MAF disconnected (about 5 miles), and although you need to bump the throttle to get it started, it idles & runs pretty good. Will give you an 0102 code, but it runs. If I plug it back in, it doesn't run so good Figured it was better to take the chance to get it here since that's where the parts were coming.

Swapped out the Maf with a spare, the side panel lost 2 rivets, idled lower but time will tell, the cold is screwing with the idle on our Mazda also

Found out there's a heater plate on the MAF yesterday, but don't see how the volume of air passing through it could be heated efficiently. All I do know is there was a boat load of unburned gas in the cats due to the MAF telling the ECU to pour gas into the cylinders. I hate when my truck is smarter than me Where about in S. Jersey? I grew up in the Cape May area.

If heated it is probly to keep condensation from building: in the sensor, sensor works by air passing a thin wire

Not yet. By the time UPS decided to grace me with the part last night the wind chill was -20ish & there was over a foot of snow on the ground. It's -5 without the wind now, and the heater dude is working on our dead boiler (I can't believe the luck I am having since Christmas day). will be installing the MAF & air intake temp sensor in the morning. Will update you then.

Okay, got everything (air temp sensor & new MAF) installed. Started right up & idled just fine. Did notice a serious lag in the throttle response while it was warming up, and on the test drive for a few miles, but that went away & it might have been me but it seemed to have more power. I also noticed the MAF1 g/s reading on the Ultragauge was much higher that it has been (prior to replacement it was 0.10 - 0.12, after I installed everything & was driving, 0.23 - 0.87) so it must be getting more air now... After about 5 miles, I shut it off for about 10 minutes & it started right back up, but the RPM's were only at about 500, but was idling just fine. On the way home I got an 1179 pending code, cleared it & it didn't come back. I'm thinking the replacement was a success, and once seated in, it is all better.



Have you tried disconnecting your MAF to see if it will run? Mine was running like crap & then quit starting. I disconnected the MAF and it started, smoked like hell (discovered the exhaust had filled with raw fuel), but run okay after the fuel burned off and dumped out of the tail pipe. I also changed the plugs again (the new ones I put in the day after Christmas were all fouled) and a new air filter before starting it this morning. Good luck!!

Glad it all worked out for you, I am guessing mine is electrical at this point I am stuck and suggestions are few and far between

Fixed it, sensor on fuel sender is tied to TPS voltage and was shorted, unplugged it and I am back running
