Lol, not meant to become a confessional thread here. You um, know that I was just kidding....... right? Not about the Golden Movement though, that's still remains at Bronze for the week.

I pass one 10 times a week on my way to and from work. It's a 98 and in near mint condition, just waiting for it to go up for sale..... They're around here, just pigeon holed in garages..... I've attracted a few with mine and we've exchanged contact info. I've fixed a few too......... Many of the guys with above average older trucks - Rangies/Disco's/D90's here don't drive em in the winter. They use road salt here, turns everything into a beater from about 08 on down.

Interesting turn of events....i chased down a white 04 from the hwy to a 7-11. No for sale sign. I found the guy and asked him what it would take for me to own it. Well....

I'm a sucker for white and green Rovers. It's an 04 with a folder full of maintenance history.

Honestly I wheel my LSE, but I'm not entering the Camel Trophy anytime soon. With that being said I love my darker 50th Anniversary seats called "Bahama Leather" with Lightstone piping (not like the typical LSE white looking leather seats), I like the door sill guards that actually say "Land Rover", I like the wood on the doors, the arm rest in the middle of the rear seat (think that was 98 and up on all D1's), the Boost or TWR wheels, the actual headrest, and I absolutely love the Woodcote Green on a D1. The chrome bumpers aren't really a D1 thing, but in stock form they did look very upscale vs their SD brothers. My 98 LSE sticker price was 39,625.00 and that was more than my 03 SE sticker price!!

My D1 is about as flawless of a 19 year old D1 you'd ever find. Yes it has a few scratches and dings, but inside it's totally like a time capsule. Seats are 100% flawless without even a wear mark, still has that Military Canvas LR smell inside, and when you drive it you have no idea it's nearly 20 years old. Ice cold AC, cruise control, and every electrical option still works (seat heaters work, but are more like mild warmers now).

My first D1 was a 97 SE in Rio Red, and I only had it 6 months before it gave it's life for me in a horrific accident that I walked away from without even a cut or a scratch. It was maybe 2 years old so when I started looking a few years back for a D1 I wanted as close to original as possible. That is like a needle in a haystack!!! Well as luck would have it I finally landed my 98 LSE and yes it's luxurious, but that doesn't stop me from getting it muddy!

My D1 is honestly my classic LR. I've had a RRC and I do regret selling it, but I always liked the D1 body better so I'll be keeping this one in as close to mint shape minus some scratches (paint is simple vs finding hard to find interior bits in good shape).

I think a trashed LR be it a RRC, D90, D1, D2, or P38 all look "gay". If you can't maintain it, and wanna treat it like a yugo then do us LR fans a favor and stick with throw away cars and leave the LR's to the professionals/enthusiast. Plastic fender vents, 4x4 badges, 24 inch wheels, and just cheap repairs DO NOT belong on a LR. I don't know how many CL wonders I find saying rare Eddie Bauer D2, or Black Edition with enough of the bling section from wal-mart glued, taped, or zip tied to em...

Shifty your about to give Paul a run for his money, you are addicted. You're running people down now for their Rovers...... you're the Count of Rovers in Vegas. You need a show! Hook up with Abran....... he's been on the tube. I'm surprised you just didn't yank the guy out and take off with it......

Looks better than the "other" one and it's WHITE which is handy in the desert. I thought you had an 04 already, where did that one go?

Haha. I have a serious problem. But it worked! I had an 04 a little while ago. I sold it to a guy in St Louis. He loves it. This one is nice! I might actually start a build thread on it I like it so much. Totally worth the borderline illegal behavior.

Abran has helped me out many times. He's good people for sure. Honestly the rover thing isn't real exciting to most. I only know one guy here that owns a D1. There are a few enthusiast here speckled around. I don't know them. I just see their trucks every once in a while. I always ride solo in the desert.

I think since I joined this forum in '11 Or '12 I've owned 12 of them. I dunno. I loose count. 4 classics and the rest D1's and D2's. You should see my garage. It's like a Land Rover warehouse.

Best4x4....the Rover gods are reading, don't jinx yourself by describing your rig in terms that are overly flattering. They are a cruel bunch.

Shift, nice get and even better hustle to run it down. Gotta love the garage queens that were dealer serviced.

I saw a darker leather LSE D1 years back for the first time and it looked fantastic. You're correct. Most have the light sand leather that showed every spot and crease. There is a 98 LSE sitting in a car lot nearby with grass growing under it up to the exhaust. It isnt in terrible shape, just been sitting there a while. Seats are surprisingly in decent shape. Im considering buying it for a parts truck.

By the way I never thanked you two (Walt, Shifty) for coming over to the "other" site. Very helpful for a minute and nobody blames you for not coming more often, it's truly a negative slugfest on who knows more than God when you get the regulars involved and crickets chirping is usual. Don't know if we'll turn it into something so for a minute it's on ice.
