Trying to choose btn two D1s… a ‘98 LSE 138000 mi in British racing green (is this possible or did it only come in a different green color?) and ‘97 base model 117,000 mi in white.
both super clean, same price , and for arguments sake let’s just say assuming all else is equal - WHICH ONE ?? I just like looks of white ‘97 better and don’t love the ‘LSE green for some reason - but wondering how much more value LSE might have?
After reading this thread I’m going back and forth like a ping pong ball. Thank you for any input ! new to this thread, a 16 yrs D2 owner
A.) you resurrected a 6 year old thread. You may want to start something new.
B.) Pretty sure they didn't have BRG on '98's. Per other threads, they only did that color on (very coincidentally to this thread) '97 LSE's, of which they made a handful. [edit: just saw the post of another user with a BRG '98, so I'm clearly wrong on this. Maybe the '97 LSE was the first model with BRG? Obviously not sure.]
FWIW, I tend to be in agreement with others on this thread that the bling of the 98 LSEs is meh, and I also like me a nice white D1. I think they handle the sketchty clearcoat that was used back then the best. Start a poll on a new thread--my vote is the '97....

thank you ! What is the clear coat issue? The 97 has clear coat peeling off on hood and around plate. Do you know if it can be re-clearcoated or painted or will this eventually happen all over the vehicle and not worth it unless the whole thing is painted.
98 LSE's were the D1's high end trim level. British Racing Green, White Gold, Black, and Woodcote Green (50th Anniversary Edition a unique and limited # package). The normal LSE interior was a lighter tan interior with darker tan piping on the seats. Chrome bumpers (very rare & $$$ now btw), full wood skateboard down center console, leather/wood trim on the door panels, and 16inch Boost Alloy Wheels.
I personally like the LSE model. With D2 headlights, a 2inch lift they look very very sharp IMHO. I owned a near mint 98 LSE in Woodcote Green (a true 50th Anniversary Edition) with the darker tan seats with lightstone piping. 50th Anniversary Floor mats, different wheels, and the Woodcote Metallic paint which was absolutely beautiful. I've always wanted the White Gold D1 as it's an unusual color for the D1, but I've just never come across a good deal on one.
