Default smoking D1

Went to fire up my D1 today and to my surprise the battery was completely dead as in 0.2 volts. So I threw the jumper pack on (to raise the voltage in the battery so that the charger pack would recognize it as a battery) once she was charged up to 12.4V I tried starting her. Apparently she needed a little boost threw the jumper pack on and started up no problems, until I noticed white smoke (cant tell exactly what it is). She's been leaking power steering juice and its been raining all day.

Any would be appreciated

Thanks Collin

1. What is battery volts when running at idle, nothing on? Looking for 13.8 - 14.4

2. Turn on head lights (increase load) - does voltage drop slightly, but stay above 13.2-13.4?

3. An alternator is 3 phase, and diodes convert the AC to DC, and a diode out drops 33% of the output amps. So it might charge on a dry day, but on a rainy day witrh lights, wipers, defrost, and that big a** amp of yours cracking the pavement - might not have enough amps to keep up with battery drain.

4. If battery is charged up, measure volt with truck off. Let us say you get 13.4. Turn on lights. Should not drop like a stone - unless it has a dead cell, in which case it will appear charged, but can't supply a real load.

5. If some of that extra stuff you added is draining away at night, it will leave you flat.

6. If you've been out splashing around, and we know you are fond of involving other locals in Disco demonstrations of capability, your ECU may have gotten wet, and all sorts of evil can befall you. It can be dried out and weather proofed, in abox next to fender and windshield washer fluid bottle.

7. Any coolant loss? White smoke from where? Only when cold, or after truck fully warmed up? Temp gauge OK?
