Those two hoses are a different diameter on each end (great Design) so to get a good fit, you almost are forced to buy the correct hose. I tried some I had on hand, but ended up getting new ones from AB for the correct fit.

Recently I was down to just an occasional P1316. At advice of another forum member, I pulled the line that goes from the charcoal cannister/purge valve to the plenum port under the MAF line. I capped that port and the P1316 has not returned.

Performance also was immediately improved. It runs like a stud stallion compared to a sick pony, try that you may like it!
I noticed those hoses from the V/C to plenum. On mine- the po did the passenger side with a regular hose the ID of which I have no idea. The drivers side is OEM and in the same shape you describe. When I went to pull it it streached like, well- rubber. So I do need to get to that.

I saw your post on that purge valve line when you posted it- and was confused when I looked at my own. Iirc- you had described a line that went under the throttle body and I did not see that. I see- purge valve > pass side plenum. On the drivers side I see- plenum > brake booster. How did you handle this? Cap at plenum? And how did you vent the line to the wheel well? Clip the hard plastic line at the canister?

Hey thank's for that! I keep thinking I am hearing a leak in the cabin. My cruise control vac lines were in terrible shape and I think that is the same type of line that goes through the firewall. Another one for the list, thank's again.

Which hose are you referring to?

Guys the cruise control and the line going thru the firewall to the brake are totally independent of the engine vacumn.

There is a cruise control vacumn pump mounted up front by the headlight that goes to a T joined by the brake (c/c) line and a third line to the cc piece. These have no tie-in to the intake plenum. Look where the main hose from the air intake box thru the MAF to the plenum is. Directly below that is the port I capped. That line from the purge valve, I merely curled it underneath the charcoal cannister and it hangs there now.

Big change in performance on mine with that capped. Proceed at your own risk!

aren't ya glad I suggested it Danny ?! that evap system is just one big leak waiting to happen, IMO. I'm now working on a cure for my P0430....which was I feel was caused by the "excessive" misfires due to the evap system being what it was .....

Yes,
I am thrilled you suggested that, I could not recall who told me about that fix. So far, it has been great.

I am afraid I will be replacing O2's soon due to them being way off on response times. And I get what sounds like possibly the driver's side cat beginning to rattle, it's original so I will be replacing cats before too long.

Capping that port made a huge difference i how mine runs, lots more response to throttle and revs a lot higher before it shifts gears. I love it!

So did you cap both end of the line..including EVAP and the Plenum? Wouldnt this cause an issue w/ the system

I was unsure what to do as far as the end at the Purge valve, so I decided to proceed one step at a time. The existing line is currently rerouted and coiled back under the charcoal cannister.

I had totally removed trhe large windshield/headlight washer monstrosity and have yet to address the windshield wash system. But that improves accessability to everything around that area.

Looking at the charcoal cannister, it has a third port that is already vented to atmoshere. I recalled that the purge valve itself does have at least one code to signal a malfunction, so I basically left it alone. So now when that valve is commanded to open and purge the cannister (if that is what happens?) it merely purges to the wheel well area instead of into the engine.

So far, that seems to be fine. So like I said, I am just taking one step at a time so I can determine what the associated effects are. If it does show a problem I will take further action. Or I may go a while and cap the other end to see what that yields.

Did you cap off both ends?

I havent touched that port yet.

Only thing i've done is deleted my faulty cruise control and replaced my leaky line to the vacuum actuator deal
