Default Some questions?

I did use the search button and I used google a lot.. Just wanted to clear the air. Thanks guys

1. I keep finding conflicting info on the head gaskets and block liners failing. Is it a certain year or series?

2. Does the disco 1 still use traction control to help it get though the mud or is that only the 2?

3. I know this is all hear say and I have searched and searced and read and read if I were to buy a disco for some trail riding and winter daily driving what series would be better?

Thanks !!!!

1) any 3.9/4/4.6 can be prone to liner problems
2) no TC on a D1

Think they meant "trail" riding..... although in years past I was well known to have done my fair share of trim riding. My Flight Surgeon let the whole squadron know what I brought to show and tell.

1. The vast majority of engines are not effected as well as any aluminum block engine can have this occur. The two years that are most commonly posted about with this problem are the 03 and 04 DII's.

2. Traction control is right foot sensitivity. Nothing stops on a dime in snow except a snowflake.

3. You'd be surprised at what these trucks can and do tow. Decent workhorses they are.

The second question I ment do the both have posi in the front and rear or is that something I would need to upgrade ? I have seen videos and read info that says the disco II uses the abs and TC to make use of all tires like posi.

the DII has (had) a very advanced traction control system for it's time, yes. Both DIs and DIIs have open diffs, no posi or anything like that. IMHO all the weird and expensive problems that can come up in DIIs made me look for a DI, and I went to the simplest of the DIs and got a 95.

I'd love a diesel. But it doesn't make sense to swap when my V8 runs fine and I'd have to put another 100k miles on the thing break even on the MPG/swap cost.
