The instrument cluster binnacle in my D1 is in rough shape. There is only so much gorilla glue can do. Was looking around local junkyards to see if I could source another unit, but they only have D2's in stock. Has anyone ever seen if these two items are identical, or close enough to make work? They look very similar in geometry.
D2 Rear AC button = works on D1 just swap the icon covers
D2 Rear AC Blower Selector Slider = Works on D1 HVAC
D2 Belt Tensioner = Works on D1 just keep the D1 pulley or vise versa
D2 Gauge Cluster Bezel = D1/D2
D2 Headlights = 100% PNP on D1
D1 Headlights = 100% PNP on 99-02 D2
D2 Lower Dash Drivers panel/glove box = works on a D1
D2 Rear Rotoflex drive shaft = slaps onto any D1 still using a rotoflex drive shaft
D2 Rearview Mirror (with or without HomeLink) = Works on a D1

Those are just a few off the top of my head.
I think a lot of the rear door stuff does as well. Compared to the number of parts that do the same job in a different truck, I still contend that’s almost nothing. Some switches and rando interior bits.
There is a LOT of parts that go back n forth between 87-04 Land Rover's. I just don't have the entire parts list. LR's use a lot of parts from Bosch/Valeo/LUCAS/GM. For one make of a vehicle unlike say GM that has different divisions Chevy/GMC/Hummer/Cadillac/Holden/Pontiac.
Heck the Rover V8 hasn't changed all that much so internal parts wise you could slap an 87 Rocker Arm into anything up to 04, same timing chain, connecting rods, lifters, valve covers, and oil pump gears. If you really look into it a lot of parts from LR's will work on other LR's. If you own a D1 and there is only D2's or P38's at the junk yard = you can grab certain parts that are 100% PNP from those and use on your D1. You just have to know what years have which part you're looking for if you can't find a D1.
Someone other than myself should break out the Excel and create a master cross index of parts. I’ve seen smaller ones, usually between RRC and D1s, and the versions here on this board, but not a totally trustworthy Full-on document. Probably 10 years ago when the trucks were newer that would have been more useful.
Just like someone should set up a manual/special edition Disco registry.
