Is your vehicle made for the North American Spec market? The NAS and non-NAS is different. What page in the RAVE electrical manual do you reference?

Your '96 is equipped with the GEMS engine management system and AS10 alarm unit. The AS10 handles the immobilization function along with the alarm. These trucks do not use the "spider". The "spider" was found in the Lucas control trucks.

Here's a page on the 96 NAS, the alarm inhibits crank relay; but as Higgs mentioned, the ECU and the Lucas AS10 talk to each other and inhibit other things like fuel pump request, etc. The system is not made to be easy to compromise in 30 seconds by local kids. Guess these trucks cost so much new that anyone that could afford them toted around sacks of gold to pay dealer fees....

KD, you say you're in Kingman. Is that Kingman az? If so, I get up in that area a couple times a month, if you need anything, let me know.

Do a search, there's a thread on bypassing the spider I believe. Also where you're at you're pretty much screwed for local parts but you knew that. Good thing though, lots of great places to rover.

Another thing, before it starts to get warm, make sure your cooling system is up to snuff.
