Default steering wheel

wondering how i could go about straightening the steering wheel. it was set up so the wheel was turned a little left while car was going straight. when i had tie rod ends changed the mechanic said he would straighten out the wheel for me, but ended up over correcting it and now the wheel is set up to the right while car is going straight.

Take it back and have him center the steering wheel.
There are different ways of doing it depending on what is wrong.

Or; remove all the mounting bolts (4)(except the front lower, just loosen) from the steering gear box. Remove the steering shaft from the gear box and reposition where you need it. 20 minutes.

I would take it back to the mechanic. If he said he would straighten it for you but over did it, he should fix it. I am not sure how it is done on a Land Rover as I am new to them but on the avg car it should not take more than 10 minutes.

Yeah, you have to be careful on cars with airbags. You could damage the cable reel if you don't adjust it correctly.

Uhh-yeah; pulling the steering wheel would be the wrong answer. This procedure is performed down by the steering gear box in the engine compartment! I always encourage people to do thier own work. However if you have money invested and a mechanic shaded you from good workmanship, then take it back and demand correctness.

the drag link from the steering box to the hub needs adjusting, undo the clamp bolts and rotate the shaft to suit, then check the steering wheel position, you will probably be able to see the grip marks where the mechanic had a crack at doing this.
