I knew a guy once that repaired and sold insurance totals he had a yard full of vehicles and was doing it for probably twenty years.....he told me never to replace a water pump with a pump from a yard. He said the seals rot when they sit and that you were better off replacing with something new. I saw after market on ebay for 49.
The reservoir bottle was replaced before I bought it so I don't think I will have to do that. Now I have to figure out the condenser fans
does anyone know does a 96 disco have a condenser fan switch? I bought one from the auto parts store they had one listed for the vehicle....the dealer didn't see it....the service manual mentions it and doesn't show where it goes...and I am starting to think that the ecm handles it now..hmmm. I swapped out a relay and they still would not come on. they come on if they are hot wired. I want to put the grill back on may be a short or a bad ground.

just to close out this thread the radiator needed a re core and she has run well ever since. the temp gauge sits right in the middle and doesn't move. I have had to work on other things and have not had the time to really concentrate on the rover the last month....so I still haven't found the fault in the condenser fan....but at least she is drivable and not over heating ac would be nice though. Thank you guys for your help.

Electrical troubleshooting guide of the RAVE will give you diagrams, pictures of locations, and lay outs of all connectors, plus explanation of how it works. There is a section on "cooling fans", probably a plug in relay. On section K5, page 6, it shows that relay, it is near the interior fan, and supplied by a 30 amp fuse F3 in the engine compartment fuse box. Just a couple of places to start.

Rovers North can EMAIL you a diagram with the fuse, and where the temp switch is... just so you know. If you want to take the temp switch out you have to drain the system of freon... pain in the butt if you ask me. I however sometimes have the fan go on and sometimes not. It just depends if THE ROVER wants them to work Or not. whatever... It blows cool air either way!
