Default stock toolkit location?

ive read the owners manual, which seems to suggest that its under the rear seat. but after folding up the seat and having it look i dont see any compartments under the seat in the floor, or anything on the bottom of the seat where you could stash tools...
im mostly interested because it would be nice to know where the factory jack handle is - ive found the jack and the wheel stop up front...

truck is a '97 SD, with 0 options so maybe it is infact under the rear seat on the fancier trucks?...

thanks!

I found a long black bag that held the ribs for the roof rack and the jack handle, in separate compartments. Was not in my truck, but snagged it while wandering aimlessly in the salvage yard. Added a breaker bar with deep socket for lugs.

Good luck finding any of the original tool kit or jack handle.
Your truck is 14 years old, you're lucky it still has the owners manual.

I actually found a swanky owners manual, with metal corners on the embossed notebook it came in. In the salvage yard where I got two seats. It is amazing what people will leave in a vehicle - pay stubs, bank records, etc. It is a good idea to look in all the nooks and crannies of any Rover when wandeing the boneyard.

Just the other day I decided to install those ribs for the factory roof rack from the long blue plastic bag that was under my rear seat. After putting the ribs in, I also found the two piece factory jack handle and original lug wrench in the other compartment of the bag. I was amazed that it was there. Very nice long jack handle.

I have not used the ribs for carrying anything yet, but I did immediately notice a very distracting wind turbulence noise if I have both sunroofs open. That annoys me since I prefer to ride with all four windows down and both sunroofs open for the nice cross breeze.

I may have to ****** the ribs out.

They are contained in the RAVE. I printed one for my 97.

A vinyl bag containing a jack handle, lug wrench, and two roof rack struts are stored under the rear seats, strapped down to the rear deck by a velcro strap. You cannot miss them if they are there.

I'd have no idea where else they could be that is not plainly obvious since the struts are ~3 ft long.

I have a number of leather bound owners manuals. I'll check the years but really, anything from '96-'99 will have 99% of the info you'll need.
