Best, thanks for the help. I ordered a Delphi (p/n FP10302) unit from Rock Auto for $64 plus tax & shipping. Rated 3.0 bar, specified for a 1993 BMW 325i. Original LR spec is 2.5 bar. There were cheaper options available, but the photos and brand for this one impressed me. It has shipped via USPS, so I'll let you know how it works out.

Been driving with new fuel pressure regulator. First three to six drive cycles had some back firing during deceleration, especially driving up to a stop sign. Now it seems ECU has adjusted to the new pressure, no more back firing. To soon to judge impact on fuel economy. It drives great.
Tested the original Lucas pressure regulator using compressed air and a hand vacuum pump, it is right on spec, about 34 psi with 15 inches Hg vacuum, 41 psi with no vacuum. New regulator should be about 7 psi higher.

Update: Higher pressure regulator (3.0 bar, 44 psi) still causes backfiring during warm up drive cycle, mostly when engine coolant temperature is around 100 deg F, before the engine fully heats up but is not cold. It was bad enough to set CEL codes for misfire, so decided to change back to original spec 2.5 bar (36 psi).
