Default summer has come.

hey guys I was just interested to know what oil oils be best to put in my truck for the summer, I have 5w-40 shell rotella sythetic in it but it needs changing and Im wondering if there's a better oil weight/viscosity I could use for a daily driver in the Colorado summer.

You really can't do much better than the Shell T6 in these engines. Good zinc content too for that top end. Stick with the 5w / 40

If you were launching a rocket into space I'd say get all **** and flush the engine....

BUT since we are dealing with a barbaric engine design from 50 years ago I say just drain and fill... Wally Mart has the best price on T6 I've seen at under $20. "The Zone" has about the worst price at over $26

Valvoline offers 5W40 at Walmart now. But it is a dollar more. But do not think I would change from Rotella. The Rotella works perfect. However my Walmart in Oklahoma sells it for $22.

Personally I use 15w-40 Rotella for the summer, but Cosmic is right, as long as there is not ticking the 5w-40 would be just fine, I guess...
