Default Sunshade wont roll up!

OK, I have been the proud owner of a 1998 Land rover Discovery for all of a month now. I took my little brother for a ride (when I say little I mean 25 years old and 6'-6", 295lbs) and he proceeds to flip and turn every thing in the truck. When he gets to the sunroof , he spends some extra time there . He decides to roll back the sun shade as if he were in a cheap motel. So, he pulled out the shade as hard as is humanly possible and lets go, in hopes of the good old fashioned sound of that shade rolling past itself. Well, no flappy sound, no rolling up at all! It just hung there, swaying back and forth with the sweet cadence of the road. Now what the hell am I going to do?

Is there a trick to reload the spring or do I have to pull the head liner to get the thing out of there?

Oh boy you have a duzie here... So try pulling on it carefully out a little more and see if that allows it to catch (like a seat belt sometimes). Or Yes, you would need to pull the headliner down. It really isn't that hard of a task, just make sure EVERY screw is out. First. Don't forget that door seals need to come down (just pull down lightly) and the trim pieces on the B pillar can be maneuvered so they don't have to be removed. If you want to completely pull it out I suggest opening the back door, reclining the front passenger seat after it is all the way forward and letting the back 60 seat go all the way down and forward. Then gently rotate it at an angle to pull it out. It will NOT come straight out of the truck, hence the angle. Get a few people to help you walk it out. Especially have on person in the rear drivers side door to help with the angle!

Do not want to thread jack but my disco was missing one clip on the sunshade when I got it, so it does not lock with i close it. Can those be replaced or should I just rig something up to hold?

There are two clips, one on the shade and another one it clips onto. One is available and one isn't. I'm not sure which is which.

Good luck, let me know if you have questions. I just took my headliner out a few months back.

Default Clip

I need the clip that hooks to the front part to stay shut.

And for what its worth the headliner comes out really easy. Just makes sure you put all screws in a bag. I found the hardest ones was the piece above the visors.
