Default Tacho not working. Test proceedure????

Hi guys, my tacho stopped working yesterday. Is there a way to test alternator for fault before forking out for new one.

Yes there is, with the truck running check the voltage at the battery terminals with a volt meter.

But you need a new alternator.

Turn on your truck, then disconnect the battery with the car running. If the alternator is not providing energy, the engine will stop. Otherwise you would have to check the white/brown wire that is connected to the back of the alt.

Cheers. rectifier is toast. Not too sure about regulator. Is it worth rebuilding. It is a magneti Marelli, A127i-100 amp. Part# AMR3107. If not worth rebuilding whats the most reliable replacement option and from where.

if you have reliable rebuild shop locally....I would definitely let them reman it....other guys here have complained that if you get a "rebuilt" one from auto zone ( or the others ) you will get crap and it will only last a year or so if you're lucky.

Yes it is def worth rebuilding.
If you dont rebuild yours then buy a new one, Bosch makes new ones too and are cheaper than the MagNelli's.
