Tensioner pulley
Ok, I hope this doesn't show how idiotic I am. I am trying to swap out my alternator on my 99sd discovery and I'm having a hard time determining which nut is the one for the tensioner pulley. I see the tensioner, but I'm confused as to whether i should be pulling on the nut with the serpentine belt attached to it or the one next to it. From what I understand, I'm not supposed to turn the nut, but pull on the tensioner clockwise? Is this about right? Sorry for the newbie question.
1. Make a drawing of the belt route.
2. See attached for bolt to turn clockwise to release (pull up).
3. Why swap alternator? And when you finish, alternator should put out 13.8 - 14.4 volts at idle.
