Calebbo, you should save up and get an UltraGauge. It truly is worth every penny you spend on it.

 

The t-stat is $10, gasket is $2 and takes 10min to change.
You are not only ruining your engine you are wasting gas by running it with a bad t-stat.
The amount of gas you are wasting each week you could buy 3 t-stats.

 

Does a 95 have an OBDII port for the Ultra Gauge?

 

I had the exact same problem on my original stat. I fixed it and put it back in but replaced a few days later just to be safe.

 

And you can "test boil" the new stat before installing. SWMBO will assign the cookware for the test.

Only '96 and newer have ODBII, pre-'96 is OBDI, which is the blink method for trouble codes.

hint - buy a couple of gaskets, to have on hand should you need to return to the scene of the crime. Also, stat should come with a "jiggle" device which rattles when you shake it. That lets gas bubbles pass by when stat is closed. Orient it to the 12:00 position in the mounting location. If no jiggle device you can drill a 1/8 inch hole in the flange.
