This is addressed to those of you in the north who get lots of snow in the winter.

Will cabin and/or engine heat create enough melt during normal operation such that you get the usual leaks in the winter time?

Yep, water is water. Usually when it's parked hot and it's snowing hard. Best thing is to park it in a garage obviously. If you can't then lay a plastic tarp over the windshield before you head up to the house. It keeps snow melt from becoming ice and you just yank it off when ready to go. I do that at work during the heavy snows. Water gets in the Alpine windows.....silicone the **** out of em.

What he said^^^^
If you get some strong magnets you can use them to hold the plastic to the roof and the windshield wipers to hold it to the glass.
