Default Thoughts on rerouting air intake?

We know Disco's can run hot, so the engine compartment is hot. The air box on a Disco 1 has what seems to be a small opening to the air box compared to other vehicles and with the hot air from the engine it seems not very efficient. Small hole and hot air. Has anyone rerouted the air intake to maybe outside the fender with a hose or drop it lower toward the bumper? Seems the air would be a lot cooler and possibly get a little "forced air"? Been considering giving it a try. Thoughts?

Yeah if you can afford a raised air intake. Figured I just punch a hole in fender and add a vent. Notice any difference in with RAI? Would assume cooler outside air is better then the hot *** engine compartment.

Its been on there so long I dont remember

ceramic exhaust manifold coating would do a better job of keeping the *** engine compartment cool
