Throttle Position Sensor testing/ input voltage????
So today while I was working on this new project with the TPS, I sampled my input positive voltage. The voltage I got running into the TPS was .281V. I also hooked up a contact strip resistor from a TPS I disassembled and was shocked to see the compared values from the two. The one attached to my D1 had a voltage value of 77.7mV at idle. At full throttle it was .596V. I disconnected the TPS plug from the one attached to my car and used it's supply voltage on the contact resistor strip from the one I disassembled and was shocked at the results. I can see the wear marks on the contact resistor strip so I know exactly where the contact arm range is. At the idle mark I got a value of 12.6mV. At the full throttle mark I got the value of .405V. Now I know at full throttle the value should be near 80% of the actual voltage supplied. This is common for TPS's. However why is my attached TPS running at such a higher range than my contact strip resistor. At 77.7mV on the contact resistor strip is about half throttle. So why is my attached TPS at idle with a value of 77.7? What input voltage ranges have you sample. Using a multimeter you can place the positive end on the red wire which is positive for the resistor end. Use the negative end on the red/black striped wire, this is the negative end of the resistor. What voltages are you getting? I'm thinking .281V is a bit low. I also tried placing the multimeter positive to the red wire and ground to frame. Still got .281V. Also if anyone has sampled thier TPS idle and full throttle voltage range, I would be very interested in knowing your values. To test the idle and full throttle range, use multimeter positive on the center terminal of the TPS while supplieing positive voltage to the red wire (right terminal), and negative ground to the red/black striped wire (left ) terminal. Read the value at idle. Move the throttle valve to full throttle and record the value. Curious to know others values. Thanks.

I had disassembled my throttle valve body for cleaning a while back. Wondering if I placed the valve rod in 180 degrees offset. Going to check tomorrow. The contact resistor strip is good values. My attached TPS values are not. Probably why I have trouble with idle and hesitation. Lessons learned.
