Default Throttle Sticking And Cruise Control Issue.

Truck drives fine but sometimes the the throttle gets suck open a little bit and the engine will idle rough or high. It sticks around value 19 and totally closed is value 14 on my scangauge. I tried some graphite spray but didn't get in the side under the TPS yet. I have noticed if I use my foot to pick up the gas pedal it returns to 14? I have both springs in the throttle dealio.

As for the cruise controll I use the cc STUPID amounts. I have been noticing it isn't engaging sometimes unless I turn off the cruise controll button and then turn it back on. Does this sound like the vacuum pump or the relay? And how do you check the vacuum pump?

Lube the throttle springs and cable with silicone spray.
If it continues to stick it may be a chaffed throttle cable.
Pulling up on the gas peddle is the key phrase.

What do you mean by,"I see how it is?"
Have you tried cleaning the t/body and the IAC? You may have 2 separate issue, cruise being one and throttle being the other.

I did a write up on cruise issues somewhere. Has the pin-outs and what they are supposed to read. I also took the ECU apart and r-soldered the connections on mine. Had the same issue as the window lift ECU. Try taking it apart and checking the solder joints...

IMO I would replace the throttle cable.....before it leves you stranded or sticks permanently open . I'm sure you know this already but according to the service manual the throttle plate is completely closed @ idle and the air is controled by the IAC. So ...maybe a sticking cable was part of your idle issues earlier..just a thought. A new cable is only $35.00....fairly cheap insurance.

negative.

i figured the issue out. I must have been under the hood and saw the little black nut that is threaded to the throttle cable was loose and tightened it. Today I decided to quit being lazy and popped the hood, found that it was the issue, loosened it and all is well now.
