I run the 15/40 summer and the lower number rotella Dino oil in winter, this winter it has been colder then normal and my lite is on for less then 30 seconds cold start in the morning which I do not like

Btw what's a good synthetic to put in my power steering?

On my DI the oil light will not go off once it gets cold if its running 15w-40.
Even on 10w-40 at -30 degrees can be a struggle. So to get the light off faster I keep a bottle of oil inside and pour it in the oil cap when started. The light goes off quicker and since I leak out oil it never really "fills all the way up" (I don't pour that much in at a time. .. nor leak that much)

I am using T6 5W40 this winter with no problems, issues, ticks, lights, or leaks, even on those wonderful ten below mornings. So, why switch to 15W40 for the summer ????? The 5w is going to circulate faster than the 15w and offer better flow at startup, and at temperature 40w is 40w, right ??

Smile Oil Pressure issue

Ok, guys, thanks a lot for the good advise. I was ready to scrap the Rover, but you gave me some hope.
Here is the deal now. I drained the oil, put new cheap oil in it with a flushing liquid, run it at idle for two minutes, replaced oil and filter and it started right up.
No ticking sounds at all!!! Oil light went off normal. Took it for a drive, after a couple of miles, the engine oil light came on. Let it cool down, same thing, it starts right up, oil light off as it should but after some time the light comes on.
How do you measure oil pressure? Is there a port or plug where I can easily connect a gauge? or should I just go ahead and replace the oil pump??

Have you dropped the pan and checked the screen? I'd do that before ordering a pump. You can measure the oil pressure off the oil pressure sensors port with a gauge. You'll need an adapter for the port to gauge connection. If the light is on it's below 8psi. Most of us that had screen blockage had the same experience as you, light off then on again once warm. We dropped the pan and cleaned the screen.......
