If the pink dots on the screen grab are accurate, you have it backwards. If you have a D1, it is a 4.0 (unless someone did something big) and you have described using a clutch so it is a manual, not auto.
I have no idea if this will matter or not but it is an obvious 'error'.
Why didn't I notice that it was reading 4.6 auto..I blame the summer heat lol. Is the Torque app the one that is by Ian Hawkins on play store? Just want to make sure I get the right one as there seemed to be a few others also.
So I went out and did another test with the GEMS app, to double check the engine/transmission selection, and even if I select the 4.0 and manual the moment it connects it changes to 4.6 and automatic. Am not really sure as to why it is doing this, as I couldn't find any mentions of this type of situation via searches. I don't believe it's a 4.6 as the stickers and the plenum cover all say 4.0 and I know it's not a automatic, and when I looked to see if maybe a previous owner could have swapped the ECU, as they did a lot of really questionable stuff to the rig. I found that wasn't really a possibility, but going to pop the ECU out later and make sure it's the correct part. Beyond the app engine/transmission confusion it is possible that I didn't rotate the TPS correctly when lining up the screw holes, as when I did I just lined it up, and slightly rotated in the direction the spring rotates to get the holes to line up. Later once it cools down a little bit I can go attempt to realign it the way you described John, and will let you all know the results, and thank you once again for all the help and information so far. Am hoping that it will be that I put it on incorrectly, and just a bonehead should have checked exactly how to install one moment.

Yes. The one on Google Play says by Ian Hawkins. That is what I use.
Be sure to Reset the Adaptive Values any time the TPS is moved.

Reason: Reset Adaptive Values
Thanks for the info on the app. So I went out and took the TPS ofd to see if I put it on qrong, but it was on the right way like you described. I then thought to check the IACV, and it was rather dirty with carbon. So I took some 90% iso and cleaned it up, and put it back on. After everything was back together I started it and normal idle. Gonna test again tomorrow and make sure, but I didnt reset the value. So I will also do that tomorrow and let post a update. GEMS app still saying 4.9 auto so not sure what is up there. Readings from after cleaning IACV and re-install of IACV and TPS, but no reset of adaptive.
Besides the IACV itself, be sure the passageway is also clean and clear, as well as the base idle passage on the other side.
If you remove the base idle screw for cleaning, try to count turns carefully to get it back in the same position. Otherwise, set base idle to around 500 - 550 rpm, with IACV passage blocked, by adjusting the screw.
So went out today and started it up, started fine and cold idle never went above 1k beyond initial when the engine first started. Warmed up fine and took it on a longer deive down the roads I use for testing. No issues at all, no codes, and normal idle. Not sure what fixed it, if it was the adaptive reset, or cleaning the IACV and it's tunnel, or what. Gonna take it on a longer drive tomorrow and hopefully it behaves.
Resetting Adaptive Values solved the high idle on start. Cleaning the IACV and passages solved the low idle when warmed up. Those idle air passages need routine cleaning because the crankcase ventilation (oil fumes and exhaust blow-by) can muck stuff up right there. Good to give it a couple shots of carb cleaner every 3 - 5 k miles or so, and clean the throttle while there.

Reason: PCV
Sorry for the lateness of this update, things have been rather busy this week. Took ye ol Disco out on a couple trips to town and one to the next town over, and that last one is 40 miles one way from my house. Everything was fine except on the way back it threw a couple of o2 sensor codes, then a P1193. Cleared em out, and after getting back home ordered the new o2 sensors, and am just waiting on them. Had no issues with idle or throttle response, just a slight issue with it not wanting to start after clearing the P1193, but it eventually fired up. Thank you very much John, and Walt for all the information and for the help. Now I can get back to fixing the other things that have been needing to get done, and tracing down a bad ground that keeps killing the battery.
Thank you for posting your discovery II TPS issue. I have a 2002 DII with high idle issue. It seems that the code P0505 is deeply stored and probably can only be deleted by the dealership shop. I really like to learn how to do adaptive reset. What tools and apps do I need to have to reset the adaptive values of the car to the factory settings?
I replaced the IAC and cleared the code, but it kept coming back like clock work after 1 hour of driving,
Does the forum have a library for this adaptive factory resetting app in a folder somewhere?
