Default Tranny, Exhaust, T-Case Rebuild, etc., etc.

OK, So I last posted last February. That last post was all about a head gasket job and upper engine rebuild that Pikes Peak Rovers in Colorado Springs did. I always have my mechanic work done by someone else, mostly because I have the money, but not the time to do it myself. Here's what happened since February:

o A/C repaired (my wife had PPR fix this for me as a surprise...it also showed that my cooling system wasn't up to snuff to have engine AND A/C going; not fun to find this out in August)

o Radiator replaced (see above), cooling system completely done in there as well.....

o Power Steering Pump repaired.

o Transmission replaced (I noticed it slipping, and there were metal shavings in the fluid. I found out the cost of the repair was about $1k more than what PPR was going to charge me for finding a new-to-me one that was serviceable and freshly serviced by PPR)

o Exhaust replaced from the headers back, including new Y pipe with cats, and mufflers. The old resonator had fallen off (taken off) at a Pizza Hut in Georgia. Yeah, that's the way I roll: pizza and mufflers.....

o new 200 amp alternator. Just because it was the same price as a factory one.

o Transfer case and both diffs emptied, cleaned, repaired the transfer case, rebuilt, etc., etc.

o Frame damage. When they took the frame brace off to get the tranny out, there was a little rust in between the frame and the brace. They took care of that.

They had my sweetheart Disco for about a week and a half. Most of that time was trying to find a new-to-me transmission. They actually started work on Wednesday afternoon and I got it back on Friday.

Where did you get your 200 amp alternator and how much was it?

The mechanic sourced it for me. I'll find out tomorrow and see what he says.

If you can get a web site or a store or whatever that would be great info to have.

Spike, Ask a local airplane mechanic that works on reciprocating engine aircraft where they have their alternators rebuilt. It may be local, & they can likely rebuild & hop up your alternator.
