Default Transfer Interlock Solenoid

Hey guys I've been a long time lurker but its been years since I have been here and even longer since the rover has been out of the garage. I need help understanding a few things...

My differential goes in and out of gear (left and right lock) and I can hear it but it will not go into high or low (up and down)?

So I have removed the solenoid which locks the high/low in the differential and I believe its called the transfer box interlock solenoid.

I have tested the solenoid by supplying 12v to it and it goes in. It goes out when 12v is not supplied so I am assuming it is working?

If so then where and how does the 12v get supplied? Is there a fuse? where do the wires get their 12v source and when?

I am going to check the voltages to the wires tomorrow...

I am debating whether or not to just wire it to the battery with a switch and fuse.....? eeeek

Help.

Thanks guys.
