Default Transmission, transfer case and differential service done!

Just completed service on these componets, it was an easy job. The clean up took most of my time.

The plan was to use Royal Purple, but my local parts store only had engine oil left. So, I bought Redline 75w/140 and MTL, full synthetic, since I had used it in the past. After the job was done, I drove it around the block to get the fluids though the gears. Within a few hundred yards, I felt the difference. Wow, soo much smother. The notchiness in the manual gear box is now gone. The shifting from low to high gears also work excellent.

Next the swivel *****....

You GOTTA take photos when you tackle swivel *****. People are always asking questions about them and we don't have a write up or photos. Think we could use it pretty bad.

When you did the trans service, did you drop the pan or just change the fluid?

Since I have a 5-speed manual transmission, just drain and filled....there is no pan.

When I had out automagic transmission, we would always drop the pan and change out the filter.

The MTL is the shiznit for the R380. I've run it for some time now. Though, I just did a service on mine and did 2 qts of MTL (which is 70W-80) and 1 qt of the MT90 (75W-90), to raise the viscosity a little and see if I notice a difference. The MTF94 we're suppose to run in the R380 is a 75W-80 (see Low Viscosity Manual Transmission Lubricants).
