first off that's very sad for your tray back. that was going to be cool.

BUT, props on the defender build. you must have disposable time and income. i'd love to do that (not that i have the right) and think it's a super cool idea.

and judging by your past performance you'll have the bits at your door in a few days and will start. good luck.

I supposed I have as much of both as most of the guys on this form. I have been around rovers for a little bit now and met a lot of people who will be helpful on getting these parts decently prices. I can also get parts from the UK for cheap - pretty much anything on UK Ebay that they would be willing to put on a pallet - I can get.

Using the disco frame and wiring is going to be the interesting parts. I have been reading a lot of build threads on devon 4x4's forum and site as well as a couple that are going on over on D90 as well..

Here's the end goal.. Maybe a little less intense at first but this is the Gigglepin 4x4's 100" challenge truck

Running a hydraulic off the LT230 PTO output would be the best option.

That sounds like a good project for some one who has the needed knowledge and ability to do such. You could probably sell quite a few to members on here. Hint, Hint.

Well I'm thinking about just keeping the disco body for the sake of being able to spend the money on building a 4.6 for the white disco.. Too many options not enough money...

The Disco is staying and I am going to pick up 32" of box section to frame the cab with here in a bit after I drop some stuff off at the post office. Hopefully I'll be able to get a lot of the welding work done this weekend.

Well we are now offically into the "building" stage.. Picked up the 1x1 and started welding pieces into place. The only part I am unsure of is how I am going to get the rear doors completely sealed. Looks like I can bend the lip out and weld it in but I am not sure this is going to work for the whole door. May have to fiberglass part of it when its getting closer to finished.

Got the upper cross member in.. welded a piece in flush with the door panel on the passanger side.. Still need to figure out how I am going to do some parts of the rear panel but we're slowly making progress. Hopefully I will be able to get a ton done this weekend.

Pic of progress
