Default Truck leaks oil only when running

Is there a certain seal that fails that causes this? I guess its either from the oil pumping or the temerature differnce.. Any ideas?

Might be your front crank seal. I guess I should ask where is it leaking front, back, top, bottom etc...

Front main, rear main, valve covers, oil psi switch, oil filter seal.
When the oil is circulating they can leak, no oil no leak.

First thing I would do is get an 8MM 12 point socket and make sure your valve covers are tight. They tend to loosen. Then I would check the pcv hoses and oil separator. passenger valve cover to the intake there is a hose, pull it off and pull out the thingy that looks like a little plastic crank shaft. The kit to replace the hoses and separator is only $25 on roverparts.com.

From there, I would clean the engine and start looking for leaks. If it is the front main, you will see it aroung the crank pulley. My front cover had a bolt snapped off and epoxied back on, thanks to the PO.

Default Try the Oil Pressure sending unit

I'd first clean around the oil pressure sender unit and then crawl under there when it is running and see if its leaking there. Mine did and it is an easy fix. Of course there are all the other characteristic leak points like the valve covers, etc. but the sending unit is easy to see and fix so give that one a quick check. Mine leaked like a sieve with the engine running.

Well it looks like it was just the power steering hose and that it was already on its way out when I went offroading. The hose is SOO close to the engine I really looked like it was coming from it. And it was not clear.. Probably got dirty dripping down the engine, but new hoses, no more leak.

Well, I can't help with your problem, but I can be the comic relief.
