Update on the Snorkels I plan to build.
So the main tube will be three inch aluminum with a wall thickness of 1/8th. The surprise is that the tube will be covered with urethane somewhat like skateboard wheels. The brand name will be Shock Shell Snorkels. The tube is impact resistant and the UV rated urethane creates a heat barrier. Cool air and smooth inner core. Still working on the intake cap. I have the tube made. I used the Mantek fender location but flared out the angle of the tube to be flashy on the fender. The black pigmented urethane matches very well with the trim. Hard to tell any difference from the two. The three inch tube looks tuff and will no doubt handle some serious business if needed. Price of parts so far. The tube was $34. The urethane $12. The under fender flex tube $18. The cap I estimate to be $6. Still deciding if I want to urethane cover it though. A plastic cap to me looks cheap. However it is more cost effective. With a urethane coating you will not know it is plastic. I'll have pictures soon.
