recently while working on tcase, i was able to reach over the tcase and disconnect the o2 sensors.scrapes and cuts and tight spot. though i did have a bunch of exhaust and drive shafts off giving me more room.

Thanks for the replies

I followed the route everyone else does. A little penetrating Kendall oil on the sensors themselves, let the engine warm up a little bit, use the wrench and they come right out.

This time it has just been getting access to the electrical connectors to unclip.

Will be removing coil pack this weekend, and seeing if I can swap them tomorrow

Well, I was not able to remove the coil pack but I did get just enough room by removing the H.T. Leads (plugs from the coil pack). The drivers side connector sits on a metal tab which keeps it on the bell housing... A little brute force and I was able to bend that tab and then disconnect the connectors!

Unfortunately I stripped the O2 sensor nut... Deep socket set to the rescue after snipping the wires.

Passenger side was easy as I snaked my hand up just as pinkytoe69 mentioned... Took some fiddling (easier than the drivers side for sure) and it clicked out.

Popped in the new passenger sensor, and drivers side tomorrow.

The ECU threw a tonne of codes relating to the O2 sensors but I reset them using an OBD2 Bluetooth adaptor and Torque (Android app) on my Samsung galaxy 2 10.1 tablet.

Vehicle certainly purrs nicely even with only 3 new and functioning O2 sensors

What happened that you couldn't get the coil pack out?

I couldn't find my blasted ratchet... all I had was a screwdriver handle with the socket, but not enough leverage to turn the nuts loose

Thumbs up

Had to torch the driver's side O2 sensor, and finally got it out Threads seemed fine, and feels good to have all the O2 sensors working now

Question

Well, when I got home I heard some rattling underneath yesterday. I checked to find that the passenger upstream O2 sensor electrical connector had come loose... I crawled underneath and plugged it back in, making sure I heard the "click".

When I got into my Rover today it ran really rough

Accelerating is shaky and it shudders a lot... CEL came on and my reader gave me code p1316...

I checked all the leads, which were replaced three months ago as well as plugs...

Any ideas on what I am missing? Perhaps MAF requires cleaning?

You moved your HT leads...you check those to make sure they're all tight and in the right order?

I'm diving in to replace my O2 sensors tomorrow. Hopefully it goes well.
