Hi everyone,

I replaced my downstream (rear) O2 sensors about a week ago, and just received my new upstream O2 sensors this week (all NTK/NGK 25044).

I am having difficulty accessing the electrical connectors as there is barely any room for my hands. I traced the wires from the sensors themselves and they come up behind my engine on top of the transmission bell housing, and seem to be stuck on there. I know how to unclip the connectors but I do not have the room.

I can see the drivers side easily enough, but can not even see where the passenger connector is.

Are there any tips or tricks for obtaining access? Should I disconnect the ignition coil just to make room and access?

That about sums it up.Some have done it without removing the coil pack but I needed the
extra room.

 

Any chance you could use an angled pick to undo the connector? I'm about to do the same, so interested in your progress. I'd like to do it without pulling the coil pack.

 

My advise is to pay to have it done.

You need to remove the coil pack, and have small hands.

 

i did it without removing the coils but it was near impossible and cut my hands all up, the coils remove easy enough( didn;t know it at the time) would definitly make it easier

 

Pull the coil pack. Four little bolts and one plug and its out. Easy peasy.
Tie your hood off to a roof rail to get it to open farther for better access.

 

Maybe for the driver's side, but not for the passenger side. Will keep peeps updated once done... thank goodness the weekend is almost here

You must remove the coil packs, 4 nuts hold it on, it sets on studs.
Some even lower the whole engine/trans by loosening the trans motor mounts.
I did not do that, I just removed the coils, still a PIA though.

 

It can be done without removing the coils, but it sucks.

Not removing them means the passenger one may require snaking your hand up around the transmission from underneath.
