Hi All, need help with the following intermittent starting problem. The other day i did some heavy towing with my Disco for about 30 to 40 minutes. Reversing the trailer at the end of the trip i stalled the engine, then when i tried to re-start i couldn't. When i turned the ignition key switch everything worked as usual except the engine did not turn. After waiting 20 to 30 minutes it still would not start, in desperation i disconnected and reconnected the battery and it started. The problem has not returned again. Reading through threads on this and other forums i have seen possible problems being mentioned as starter relays, fuel pump relays, crank position sensor, neutral safety switch on the transmission and others.



Any guidance or suggestions how to fault find this would be appreciated.

Since it cranked and started after you disconnected - reconnected the battery, I'm guessing you had a bad connection at the battery. Check positive from battery at the starter and negative fom battery to wherever it goes (can't remember). I'd go ahead and put an extra ground or three in as well. ( block to frame, body to frame, etc.)
