Vacuum hose and Cps
Hello guys
Just bought a 1999 Land Rover Discovery and I love it. I'm having problems starting it, which I believe is the CPS. It's throwing out codes p0335 and p1179. Which brings me to my next question, there is a vacuum hose coming off of a circular black thing towards the back drivers side of the engine. It comes out and makes a T . When I press the gas it sucks in air. What hoses should be hooked up to this.
Thanks in advance

It sounds like the hose that goes to the cruise control and through the firewall, right? One hose comes from the round vac motor (that disc), another goes through the firewall (I believe to a cancelation switch on the brake pedal?), I believe the other hose, going off memory here, the other hose goes toward the front of the vehicle to a vacuum reservoir next to the Jack or somewhere in that area??
Look closely, I would thinnk the old hoses should be laying there unless someone removed them. The hose that goes through the firewall tends to dry-rot and hard to keep on the T. I had to replace my hose. I couldn't find a replacement that was the same size so I had to use the closest I could, and replaced the tee with a right-fitting one. That leak can affect the operation of your rig, so get the leak fixed and make sure there aren't any other vac leaks especially up by the engine. let us know how it goes..

Also I went to autozone to get the codes, I keep seeing people say you can clear the "check engine" with the OBDII scanner. Can I do that with the one at autozone?

Check engine light should go away if the CPS sensor was the only problem and a new one fixed it. Check the wiring near the exhaust manifold that goes to the sensor too.
Yeah, you can just cap the end of the T if you can't find the hose. I would at least put some gorilla tape over the firewall hole to keep mice out. BTW, if you really want to keep mice out, take off the plastic grille where the wipers are and fab up a Hardware Cloth wire mesh grate to cover the OPEN hole where fresh air (and varmits) come in.
