Vacuum lines
Bleu Beasty came with real(?) Smog OK sticker about 1.25" square with large check mark on it. Sure doesn't strike any bells in California. Anywho...dealer stressed that and handled registration/license which shocked the snot outta me. After setting off alarm in busy parking lot in front of Starbucks, Jamba Juice and another patio eatery, for an hour one evening I noticed vacuum lines missing hose in a couple of places. A few trips to parts store later all lines, Ts and hoses connect. Some other day while looking for cracked hose (vacuum), found and corrected, two more tubes to nowhere came to light. The are next to firewall, extending down, on passenger side, behind engine. Made of small black metal possibly linked together above bell housing and do not move. Both are cleanly cut at same angle staggered height. I'm hoping trans and xfer case have blow off setup. Doubtful though cause they would spew to hood and cover engine. Any ideas would be great.
Other thought; How in the &*% could car have passed smog with missing hose?

"They're vent tubes for the front differential and transfer case." Right function, wrong metal enclosures. Your knowledge rules those out (2/3 happy dance). Still chasing randomly intermittent start/idle/run issue(s). Leery of getting codes read, xlated, deciphered because there are likely too many or immobilisier du Bleu taken out of loop by dealers fave sparky. Still finding tubes and wires removed/routed and sometimes ended with and w/o proper end. They threw quite a few parts at beast but didn't keep good list. Best smile tho is response to Lucas switch monkeys and reality of Off/On/Power/Crank...mmm...sputter, stumble, burn finger, other hand, decides to run, for now. Thanks again. El Nino back for March visit. Warmish rain in early March after couple high 70s F late February.
Some terminated connectors are for items not installed on your vehicle - options. As far as codes you want to stay in touch with the ECM, get to know the codes and what they mean because it is so much easier to stay ahead than behind the curve. Land Rover ? OBD Trouble Codes I've kept mine as a daily driver for eight years because I know what and more importantly how serious the codes are and what they actually point to. It also keeps my fuel mileage at peak so I'm not tossing money out the window.
